I live on an island
five kilometre radius
with four bridges
in the cardinal directions
if one should be under repair
there is no need to despair
for I have three spare
I’ve seen the remains of an original
where crossing depended on tides
how far we’ve come
to circumvent nature
each bridge is high enough
and built of real sturdy stuff
to endure the rough and tough
so that we may abide complacently
without much thought
for those engineers who
conquered the elements
so that we may live in ease
beside the water and trees
with no elements to appease

What wonderful scenery that surrounds you Kate… Love it… And great to have more than one bridge….
I could think of a few scenarios and quotes about bridges lol…… Crossed many… and burnt a few.. 🙂 but never leave oneself without an escape route… So three spare bridges come in handy.. LOL….
Sending Love Kate… ❤

Four bridges!
This is quite interesting. I wonder how much scenic the views would be from each.
The one you’ve shared is just mesmerizing 🙂

at least 15 ppls have claimed to have viewed this video H yet the official YT count remains fixed on 8 … have you had this problem with YT?

8 is still the count. Not so sure about the reason.
Found this on a tech blog: YouTube can slow down or freeze the views to check the authenticity and trustworthiness of the views. So, it can take up to three business days for YouTube to update the views on the videos.

What a pretty sunset under the bridge! And you’re right, we need to appreciate the people who build our bridges…they certainly make life easier.

Kate, your creativity is as present as the gift of endless water around you. I’m in downtown Columbus, Ohio so I was blessed with traveling on the beautiful bridge over the Scioto River. However, I would trade that experience for crossing this awesome bridge.

Beautiful poetry, Kate. A new form for me, will surely give it a try sometime.
I liked the bit about engineers very much, the way you described their work was so good!

YAY for actual physical bridges the people who built them…for travel from one place to another. When we lived in San Francisco, there were many bridges…we drove the Golden Gate Bridge often…and walked it many times. There was another bridge I was fascinated by…a two story bridge that was amazing!
I am, also, grateful for people who help to take down “walls” as they are bridge-builders between people. 🙂 “Love is the bridge between you and everything.” – Rumi
Beautiful poem, photo, and video! I watched your vid on YouTube! 👍 🙂

I sure do Karima … had never been here but had a strong dream about it. One visit and I resolved to relocate … took ages to find my lil cottage but so glad I followed that instinct!
