in celebration of international Poets Day + Harmony Day I felt ‘birds’ should grace that slot … my poem is littered with my own favourite shots of birds, some you’ve seen before. And I’ve added a very short jaunty preening session by a couple of ducks that does look choreographed.
birds awesomely inspire

they glide and soar on high
or hover before that swift dive
majestic grandeur in our sky
masters of precision flight

they twitter and sing
abundant colours and sizes
make our hearts ring
such beauty in motion

mesmerizing for hours
flit to snatch an insect
sip nectar from flowers
raptors on high alert

enchanted by their song
chicks scratch about
swift running for those with legs long
some eat from our hand
they bring delightful joy
making us feel grand

Wonderful, a breath of fresh air.

thanks Sue, that music is exceptional, so blessed to find it ‘free’ on youtube!

Yes I have had trouble before choosing music which is then banned and copyrighted, on YT yet it was free within my video programme on Windows video maker.. Go figure.. 🙂 I had to take down and re upload with a different music back ground one of my videos.. All lessons in life.. 🙂

yes, I was warned but I’ve only learnt a very basic YT edit, got to find an editor compatible with my mac …

I love them all but there’s something about the Kookaburra’s that’s got a kind of human quality 🙂

Wow! Such a delightful post, Kate! I used to visit Butterfly World when I lived nearby. This post reminded me of their “Lorakeet Encounter.” It was so much fun to enter the aviary and feed the birds. They would land all over you if you had some “nectar” in your hand!
Your osprey looks very much like the ones we have in Florida. The nesting platform also looks similar to the ones around here! Your terns also look like ours. Most of the others are so different from anything we have in the US. So very lovely and fascinating!
Thank you for posting photos and poems about all of these gorgeous birds! ❤

really appreciate your very generous comments, thanks so much Cheryl … I hear those terns fly around our world according to seasons 🙂 Imagine we could even be seeing the ‘same’ terns, not just look alikes!

Great bird photos. I’ve noticed that people are looking at their feet more and more, so they don’t pay attention to what’s flying in the air. I’m glad you appreciate their beauty.
I send my regards

Enjoyed viewing the pictures. You are awesome with Photography. The different types of beaks look stunning.
They are naughty and super chirpy at times which makes me feel like they are complaining. I love feeding and talking to them. Fills me up with great energy to live through the day.
Thank you for this beautiful, hearty share. Have a blissful day!

thanks for such a delightful comment Kritika, the birds on the river out front do that super chirpy thing ALL night and I love it! I just think they are catching up on gossip 🙂

What a lovely gallery. I haven’t seen all of them. Wasn’t it a sparrow day yesterday? There were posts on other social media sites, especially from Indians.

YAY for being inspired by such beautiful, unique birds and writing poetry in praise of them, SweetKate! 🙂
Looks like the terns are turning to face each other and have a conversation. 🙂

Birds do make for great poetry! I love them all but the sly looking Stone Curlew is my favorite!!

ooh I have quite a few shots but none as commanding as the first time I saw a group frozen in time. They stand, sit, walk and freeze – I honestly thought they were statues and wondered why someone had collected so many … then that sly eye shifted!
