Jacinta

Jacinta Ardern has always been very intentional with her use of language!

The resigning Prime Minister of New Zealand said “I hope I leave New Zealander’s with a belief that you can be kind but strong, empathetic but decisive, optimistic but focused,” A leader well ahead of her time who has been subjected to the most heinous threats trolling and slander. It seems when younger women not only succeed but actually outclass the males in their field the vitriol becomes extremely dangerous. Her young daughter is often included in those vile death threats, where does society draw the line?

apologies, I’ve changed to firefox and am now unable to download internet images … hope I find a solution soon!

Ardern coined the term “they are us” in the initial hours after an horrendous slaughter at a Mosque. Meant to convey unity and inclusion yet these words have been twisted from spite, jealousy and all those harmful emotions.

When other PMs, Australia’s in particular, were damaging trade alignments with China by using terse accusative language. She shifted her language on China in 2021, when Ardern flagged it was becoming “harder to reconcile” the differences between the values of Beijing and New Zealand

She is wise, insightful and kind beyond her years and should be praised but instead she became a target …

frankly I never thought I would be including a ‘politician’ in my ‘wordsmith’ category, so I’m very glad that I found this exception!

As today is Invasion Day, politically called Oz day, I am adding this amazing video which says so much!

    • thanks Richard, I’m guessing she will return to the international arena after a break … she has so much more to give and leaders like her make our world a better place!

  2. I’m not into politics at all but after reading these articles I think she was a great politician, as you said. Thanks for this informative post, Kate 🧡 Also, that image-download problem is common in Mozilla Firefox. This might help (it’s from their official support page) https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cant-download-or-save-files#:~:text=Configure%20Internet%20security%20software,-Internet%20security%20software&text=Check%20the%20settings%20in%20your,then%20re%2Denabling%20the%20software.

  3. any resignation of a leader is sad but doubly so when it is because of threats and harassment! *sigh* She will no doubt do well in whatever she puts her hand to. I do think she is not gone forever…

  4. I agree with the other comments – so sad she had to resign. Words make such an impact and she was a master in commanding and changing narrative for the better. Thanks for sharing that video – it was definitely powerful and convicting.

  5. I, too, was saddened to hear of Jacinda’s resignation. I hope she will be able to live out her life with her husband and daughter without the hatred and vitriole that has dogged her work in parliament. She’ll be a tough act to follow (from an Australian’s point of view). I’m sure she’ll have much more positivity to share with the world. We’ll just have to wait to see how.
That video is powerful. I’m surprised I hadn’t seen it before. Thanks for sharing.

    • I believe they did see it Carol Anne, that’s why she became a target … doubt they would have behaved so badly if she wasn’t performing so outstandingly …

  6. This is so sad, so frustrating, and so angering. 😦 It should never be this way. SIGH 😦
She is the kind of leader we all need, in every part of the world! I’m so sorry she’s been treated so horribly. 😦
    Thank you for this post!
And the video IS amazing! I watched/listened twice! 🙂

    • ooh thanks so much precious! That video is sensational so I pray many more will view and like it for them 🙂

Yes, women who sincerely achieve become real targets at the lowest level possible. This can only stop when other men stand up to those misogynists …

      • Exactly right! Men have to stand up to men…or things won’t change.

        It’s a sad angering thing.
I am always encouraging good men to stand up to misogynists. Reminding them it’s what they chose to do, and say, that will cause positive changes so things get better for women. They all have daughters, granddaughters, etc., so I appeal to that. 🙂

  7. Yes it is sad she resigned. But, you can understand it. There are a good few out there. But the world is not ready for them. And they want to play their ego games, and power tricks, and and and and…. ahhhhhhhhhh

She was and is a blessing and just wonderful – I pray the world wakes up. Because there are leaders trying to do the right thing. But the old school establishement – the men club, just just…. ahhhh

I cant put it into words..

    lovely post Kate
