“Contentment is the Only Real Wealth”
swedish chemist Alfred Noble
Real contentment brings deep satisfaction with what we have without that desire for more or better. Envy, greed, obsession, control, anger, all those harmful useless emotions naturally fade as loving kindness prevails with inner content. And that calm attracts others, they feel very safe in our company.
Financial wealth, education, freedom, etc do help but without real inner contentment the others can seem quite pointless. Putin is said to be the richest man in the world with much great worldly wealth and power yet his discontent has lead to an invasion and slaughter of civilians … with the threat of using nuclear weapons just to get even more attention.
So why chase desires when the treasure of contentment is already within …

just as a tree can’t grow without roots and branches we also need health and fitness, and money can’t buy that!
Alfred Noble’s words are golden!

So VERY true! When we are grateful for the important things of life (health, friendship, compassion, giving, laughter, etc.), we realize we have SO much! People who are always wanting more will never have enough and are rarely grateful for anything.

Lovely post, Kate. Agreed, contentment – and health – are true wealth. Blessings to the many suffering as a result of Putin’s greed, and continued blessings to you, my friend! 🌞

The saddest thing is that greedy people need more and more. The fact that someone is the richest is not enough, you have to cross the borders to make other people hell. I know a family of seven who took one bag of things from the shelter to Poland. It is their belongings of all their lives. The rest under the rubble. At night, children wake up, cry and ask if you need to run away. We have one million eight hundred thousand. refugees. What future awaits them?

You are so wise, Kate! Money doesn’t bring contentment, and almost always causes trouble. I wish that more people would figure that out…..

I loved the picture you chose and the caption. Your words about contentment are so wise and Putin is perfect example of complete imbalance in the way of being in the world. Contentment is a conscious choice and practice. If contentment is seen as random or accidental there is always a risk of unconscious decisions. Gratitude for what we have can bring so much balance, no matter how much that is.

absolutely but so many like yourself have no real stability of ‘good health’ and I can’t begin to imagine the torment that that causes!

As the world’s richest man, Putin is asking for financial backing from China. for his unprovoked war. The “most” is never enough, and contentment eludes greedy people. Wonderfully wise post, Kate. Contentment is key! ❤

Agree completely, but contentment is elusive. I find that boredom constantly drives it away 🙃

True words of Reality and Wisdom, Kate. Let’s hope the war ends so that poor civilians are not killed and left homeless.
