Lovely haiku and photo, Kate. Had to look it up and I think that’s a Jatropha podagrica or common name, Australian Bottle Plant in your neck of the woods. What do you think?

lol confucius was the bloke with the big belly, Buddha fasted for 6 years so he was a thin bloke … you can often see his ribs in pics or statues 🙂

We have these flowers in our garden in India. The plants are like weeds and survive without any care.

Hmm as they are not native to my place. I had to keep a check on the numbers. They easily enchroach area in other flower beds and are hard to remove if once settled 😁

After reading the other comments – the plant is an Austrailan Bottle plant. Oh the name doesn’t match it’s beauty.
Your Haiku is so lovely and then you photograph is the perfect companion to the Haiku. Nice to see the © on the photo.
Did we caption this in the book?
Take care sweetie.

Kate, your Haiku and photo remind me that spring’s warm joy will eventually follow winter’s cold journey. It always does!
