paean

this song of praise is for my WP clan
glad of their presence and support
our host provides many challenges
yet our community finds a solution

which they freely share. Check if
another is missing. The care is
tangible for we’ve found a healing
connection with like-minded people

share our creativity, welcome
newcomers, encourage and
join in prompts. Laugh and cry
together in this virtual family

bonding lifelong friendships
feel like we know each other
yet never met face to face
no need with such online grace!

  1. […] CalmKate has posted another challenge. This time to write a paean. The paean is traditionally a song of praise or triumph originating in ancient Greece, usually written as a song to thank gods for showing favor. The modern paean can be written on any topic and in praise of nearly anything! There is no prescribed form for them to take, though the ode and ballad are commonly employed for paeans. I decided on rhyming couplets – because I’m feeling lazy and trying to count metrical feet and adhere to a rigid rhyme scheme didn’t sound like fun. I did however maintain the 14 lines of the sonnet. 2. Thank you so much for this wonderful post dear Kate. So nice to be one big WP family where we all share our little anecdotes and are much appreciated by each and everyone. Though we all have not met we all have become bonded with love and happiness. Feel so nice to have connected with you dear Kate. Love and light

  3. Kate,
A wonderful tribute, and it’s truly wonderful to share this space as we do with warmth and humility, something that so much of social media seems to have left behind.

  4. When I first started this blog, the thing I was most afraid of was the reaction I’d get online. But you’re right, the wordpress community is supportive and wonderful, and joining it has been one of the biggest benefits of blogging. Thank you for being a valued part of my WP community!

  5. I love the tight circle of friends WP has given me and the ripples this circle creates brings many more to this expandable circle. I’ll share the link of one that I wrote a couple of years back.

Thank you for this shout out. ❤️🙂

  6. Exactly! The WP family is wonderful. I feel so fortunate to have met so many genuinely beautiful people! Your poem says it all! I’ll have to consider this prompt – of course tomorrow’s post is for the last prompt. (I’m so slow!)

  8. This is a lovely shoutout for the WP community, Kate.
I’m glad that I met you over here and we shared our thoughts and feelings about the world we live in, though distances apart.
But thanks to WP, such distances have no meaning 🙂

    • Oh, yes at the very last moment. The spectators had already reached the stadium and pitch was all ready but alas.
And on Monday, the English Cricket Board also pulled out the plug from their tour.
