gradually we are emerging
emotional well-being reels
our hearts are essentially good
kind care sincerely heals
rules ingrained, restrictions easing
as we knew they eventually would
kind care sincerely heals
our hearts are essentially good
grief stricken by so many losses
people jobs security stolen
our hearts are essentially good
kind care sincerely heals
facing a total reconstruction
unsure of how we should
kind care sincerely heals
our hearts are essentially good
possible as survival is paramount
haunted but living still appeals
our hearts are essentially good
kind care sincerely heals
it may take a while to flourish
but nature n love have withstood
kind care sincerely heals
our hearts are essentially good
we’ll make a new life
undaunted by how it feels
our hearts are essentially good
kind care sincerely heals

What a nice poem. I think people are as good as they can be. Sometimes, however, one has to be dark, which rhymes wit,h “heart.”

A new life, a new earth, that’s what we’re heading for with kindness at the forefront. At least for those who believe. Beautifully written Kate. 🙏

This is so hopeful and optimistic! Alas, my cynical self can’t quite buy into it at this point. I do think that kind care heals – here’s to hoping that our hearts are truly essentially good.

You did a wonderful job with the prompt. Your repeats work very well. I love the photo… describes our time so well… walking into a shaky uncertain future! Well done Kate.

Can’t compete with the poetic responses, but love the emphasis on “kind care”.

The heart is a slave
And will behave
According to circumstance
And dance
To whatever tune is playing
Relaying it’s message in blood
A flood
Of information
To the brain. Imagination
However insane
Becomes reality
For you and me
Restrictions are not lifting
But are gifting
Us
With a view of the future
Which we will not change
Or rearrange
For fear of what is near
And of what we might hear
In retreat
From hearts
That find no reason to beat
