abridged #jazayde #d’Verse

I live on an island
five kilometre radius
with four bridges
in the cardinal directions

if one should be under repair
there would be no need to despair
for I have three spare

I’ve seen the remains of an original
where crossing depended on tides
how far we’ve come
to accommodate nature

each bridge is high enough
and built of sturdy stuff
to endure the rough and tough

so we can abide complacently
without much thought
for those engineers who
conquered the elements

so we may live in ease
beside the water and trees
no elements to appease

d’Verse, bridge, Merril
this was super fun to write, anyone know what style/format this is?

Missingham Bridge, the closest to me!

Jazayde form of poetry is born .. [nobody could tell me the format so ..]
