Kate, interesting question! Some of the connotations of the word “plastic” are negative, such as of low quality, synthetic, or fake. Plastic is also related to water bottles leaching chemicals into drinking water or plastic containers littering oceans and beaches. A positive use of the word could mean flexible, open to change.
Plastic surgery has both positive and negative associations…unnecessary surgery, vanity, trying to regain lost youth…but plastic surgery is a godsend to mastectomy patients, burn victims, those born with harelips, transgender individuals, and many others.
Thank you for this thought-provoking post.
Have a great weekend! Cheryl

Cute duckies…prefer the real one! 😉
Plastic makes me think of a lot of things.
The first thing that came to mind is plastic people (noun) fake-ness, arrogant, materialistic, lack depth, and think they are better than everyone else.
The next thing that came to mind is: Do something drastic. Cut the plastic. (related to plastic used once and then thrown away…and always seems to end up where it should not be. 😦 )
(((HUGS))) 🙂

[…] It’s been a while since I did a blog for pull up a seat but after seeing this one last week I couldn’t leave this week. I just love this plastic cow seat at Heskin Hall Shopping Centre outside the Two birds tea room. It is also for Friday fun which this week is plastic. […]

I saw plastic floating in water while I was in Himachal Pradesh, Manali. It felt really bad to be around that place. It really was hurting.
Sharing a travel experience 😊

yes Menali has a lot of heavy energy … weed grows naturally everywhere and lots come just to get stoned … HP pollution is shocking, no infrastructure to deal with it so I get you!

I’ve got a relative who collects those little rubber duckies in different costumes. Like police and firefighter, or a nurse or doctor.
Plastic is an interesting thing – I just was watching a commercial for a major furniture maker that now uses plastic bottle to make the fronts of it’s kitchen cabinets. I’ve also seen how some homes in countries that have less, that they used two liter bottles to make the walls of their homes – they put the bottles in wire boxes and stack them then put plaster on the out and inside – very good insulation to keep the insides cool and warm.
There are places that recycle better than others. We just need more people to respect how to discard any unused product.

India recycles plastic into road building, apparently it makes for much stronger and more durable roads … combined with the usual materials of course!

When I typed “plastic” in my tag search I got a few photos of objects that were definitely NOT made of plastic. I was about to remove the tag when it clicked: a “Plastik” in German can mean sculpture. So I left the tags but for the post I decided to use plastic plastic. https://picturesimperfectblog.wordpress.com/2020/08/21/puzzling-plastic/
