Friday Fun – security

in this time of turmoil what does “security” mean to you?

is it your health; funds to get health care and pay the bills; employment; knowing loved ones are safe; getting back home …

just frankly curious so if you don’t want to link your own post please feel free to give a briefer response in your comment?

have done a few poems on the topic

  1. I think they are all interlinked, Kate. Health is the topmost priority right now, but one needs money for adequate medical cover and for that one needs to remain employed and so on…

Some are lucky to be at a stage where the nitty-gritty of living is taken care of and all they have to do is stay safe and healthy.

  2. Ah what a time for the world. Security I think at this point of time is to know that loved ones are safe and eagerly waiting for that day when I can meet them in person than through the darned video calls.

      • I am glad to hear that. The world sure has gone topsy-turvy now and I am bewildered it has been so many months already. I just keep praying let things better soon.

        • vaccine and an effective treatment will help that but people really need to distance … it means staying healthy, staying alive … until they get that I think we will flounder in this quagmire a lot longer …

          • You are right Kate, people aren’t being careful. I read an article where it was mentioned that there are two ends to a pandemic-one a medical end and a social end. I guess it has socially ended for a lot of people, or it appears so but that can be catastrophic. Keeping my fingers crossed for the best!

  4. Hahaha the picture was very cute and fun loving, Kate. With me, family and friends come first and to see that all are doing good at these times and finance too plays a great role in our lives at these crucial times. Helping others who are in need at this time is what I do in my own way.

  5. I’ve talked with some folks that believe the course of C19 will be about 3 years. That’s about how long The Spanish Flu lasted. There is debate on weather we are half way or just a 1/3 through.

A friend in California where they’ve had another ‘spike’ says they’ve gotten creative about encouraging mask wearing; one slogan is “Mask it, or Casket!”

  6. Some people don’t believe we are ever truly secure. As life can change drastically in the next moment…nothing is promised or guaranteed.
BUT, I think there are some things that help us feel secure.
Carol Saline said that we can be safety nets in a chaotic world just be being there for each other. 🙂
And I think good, selfless, genuine love helps people feel secure.
Interestingly, some of the people who have accomplished the most in making this world a better place have NOT focused on their OWN personal safety and security.
I think it says a lot about a person, or country, by how they treat the vulnerable, those who don’t have a voice, the elderly, the ill, the children, etc. Those are the ones we should be helping to feel safe and secure. 🙂
Okay, I’ve rambled on too much.
Great thought provoking post, SweetKate!!! 🙂
    (((HUGS))) 🙂

  7. This is such an interesting question….I feel like right now my priority is trying to stay as present as I can in the moment – whether that be staying connected with my family, friends or within myself! Honestly though, it’s very hard to be fully secure nowadays, no matter your situation (though of course others are in a much more fortunate position than others in the world right now). I totally agree with Carolyn’s comment on this in this thread 🙂 Great post!
