many faces and accents engage
as the world of d’Verse poets
indulged an open mic reading
Bjorn arranged a world first
for poetry is our real thirst
allowing our screens to burst
with a full range gathering
sharing keen enthusiasm
the excitement palpable
some of us missing
for various reasons
but all of us attended
by heart of the season
a trend that will continue
to grow with poets we know!

Are things getting better and calming down in your area?

they only had nine cases in this huge regional area and no deaths at all, so most flouted the rules … Australia has only had 103 death total!
There is a current outbreak down south but seems they didn’t translate the covid info into enough languages … very sad!

That is amazing considering what is happening on other continents!

indeed, our pollies actually acted swiftly and cohesively, more than 90% of our cases came from cruise ships and returning travellers … one nurse who travelled managed to infect and kill a large number of aged people in nursing home care .. soo sad!

Sounds like they handled it well. Sad for sure about the nurse in the nursing home

she must feel very bad … but now the crisis is over our pollies are bickering like 5yo once again! Didn’t last long but nice to know it could be done …

Still some who don’t want to wear masks and others who think it is all a way to control people. Then with all the protests with no social distancing and half the people not wearing masks. It may be awhile for us.

ouch and far too many deaths … we are specifically ordered that only the ill should wear masks, so we seldom see them!

If you are active at all the masks get damp with is not a good thing. It just holds the place for germs to grow!

I hope it will be possible for you to attend… but I guess it would mean being up really really early.

I am usually up before that, for meditation … just not that interested in learning how to do those face to face things … but it pleased a lot of people Bjorn, so hoping that you might do it again 🙂

doubt it Mich but one of the team has confirmed that it will happen again 🙂
Why not respond to some of their prompts when they resume from the current two week summer break?

Was it the event you were busy with? The stage you referred earlier? Great timing for such event. Exchange of ideas is what we need in such times.

No I wasn’t involved, not into the face to face things … just spreading the joy afterwards 🙂

Loved your poem! That you took the meet and so vvell described it, captured the mental, higher level there vvas in this great experience. The connection and the emotion, inspiration, the “Us” of it.
Thank you for this!

Your poem is like Joni’s Woodstock – I missed you there! It was fun and we’ll be doing it again some time.

Holy smoke, Kate! You are being compared to Joni Mitchell! The praise just doesn’t get any better than that! Here’s an Oz version for you …. https://youtu.be/qKRrI7qqXE8

So sad I missed this! I haven’t been to an open mic in forever and to do one internationally…this was really a great opportunity. Thanks for memorializing in a poem, Kate. So apropos!

Sounds like a great way to get to know all the other poets! Makes me nostalgic for Xanga where there would be “parties” and we’d all go to one person’s blog and have conversations via the comments! It was a lot of fun…
