we all dance to a different drummer
with greatly varying propensities
that makes our world so intriguing
for if we were all the same
that would be a shame
monotony and boredom would abound
embrace diversity
for it adds colour
get curious and explore!
dVerse, 44 words ‘drum’, Mish – pexel image
Good point: we each dance to a different drummer.

That’s what makes beautiful music. All the “wonderful sounds” coming together to create this intertwined mosaic we call the world.
If all was the same – I don’t think so.
Embrace the different “drumming sounds.”

lovely, well said Glen!
I often think of each of us as an important thread of a very large tapestry … each thread embracing those around them 🙂

Well said on your part as well.
We’re like pieces of a huge puzzle. Every peice is vitally important in order to view the finished mastepeice. If even one peice is missing, you can still see the relative version of the end result, but it is not the version that was created. In order to see the true masterpiece, we need all the puzzle peices in order to see the end result.

This is totally true..and i love that you emphasized how boring the world could be if we are all the same…in fashion, in art we need colors, lots of it..so as in life and in people…

I love diversity. And we’re also all connected, have the same consciousness running through us, no matter how diverse we may be.

Being different from one another fills up our world like nothing else. But what’s more important is that we should embrace the difference of others with open hearts and minds.

All that drumming surely creates a beautiful symphony! And curiosity keeps the child within alive! Well said, Kate.

Exactly! It always amazes me how much time and energy we tend to spend trying to get other people to think and act like us. They aren’t us, so how can that happen? Diversity is what makes life interesting, once we can stop being afraid of it. Loved this poem, Kate!

Lovely and profound poem, Kate. Every drummer beats his own drums. We have to embrace diversity and get curious to explore the life that is given to us. Too good.

You just nailed it Kate! Like Maya Angelou said, “It is time for parents to teach young people early on that in diversity there is beauty and there is strength.”

We each need our own rhythm… otherwise you are likely a soldier following orders.

Yep, Kate, and here’s to the most bracing diversity of all, that of the mind. Far more interesting than the superficialities that distinguish us.
Even when I disagree, listening and interacting is good exercise. Occasionally it leads, even, to changed minds, both mine and theirs.
That’s not the point, though. However, dancing through life’s delightfully endless library, is.

Thought you’d never ask!
Funny, too, “waltzing” was the word I chose originally, but then dismissed it as being too “Tales from the Vienna Woods.”

Likewise. I was probably the only kid on the bus back from the 8th-grade DC field trip with both Wang Chung and Strauss playing through the headsets.

Each one has our own inner rhythm to which we dance across this life’s stage. The trick is to dance with others instead of shoving them off the stage.

Lovely poem Kate.
Our lives should not revolve around me and myself instead it should be us.
From life to music if it’s sharing we enjoy a lot more.
