with feasting and friendships
firmly fulfilled
another holiday passes
with next year looming
had a new experience
a neighbour took me
Boxing Day shopping
not a keen shopper
I did the trip justice
got some things
I have needed and
it wasn’t so bad
still working on my garden
planted sunflowers and
snow peas, sweet peas next
my place is finally getting there
we had a few mils of rain
what a wondrous sound
lets pray more falls soon
as heat waves hit us
how have your seasonal
celebrations gone …
anything exciting to report
good company and a cavort?
Nice to hear that you have really settled in – a shopping expedition says friends and local. Yes, hoping you get more rain.

I tend to shop mostly at the charity shops. I rarely get new things these days. And I stay away from crowds. I do remember when I was little thought the mobs of shoppers … The best place though was the book store.
We’ll have a celebration this eve. Just a chance to get together – I don’t go overboard on gifts since I think we give what we can and need all year round to those closest to us. The holiday is mostly for children. And my gift was an unexpected trip to see my Mom. So I can’t ask for anything more… And then there was the car repair for hubby after we got home… so that’s where our money goes 😉
Glad you got some rain, hope you get more. Looking at a heavy fog and 32 F this morning 🙂 Yep. We’re home but I’m still in sort of vacation mode so things will be slow on my end.

Glad to hear about the rains (and the shopping! Spending money on ourselves need to happen once in awhile). It’s made the news here especially with the toll it has taken on the fire fighters.

fire fighters here are volunteers and most have had a month off work = NO Pay … guess the govt. would have to send in the military if they return to work … it’s so wrong!
How do they pay their bills …

No pay?? That is awful! How is that even legal? Fire fighters and other first responders definitely deserve any and all benefits they can be given!

lol about 24 hours after I posted this comment our PM was finally embarrassed into a one off payment of $6,000 … that is heaps cheaper than deploying military forces!

We are in a holiday get away for a while now…i had some time writing while i communion with nature. We had our annual gift giving back home with the help of some friend who facilitated the activity. It went smoothly as planned even if we were not there. We brought smiles in the eyes of our less fortunate neighbors even in our absence.
Happy new year Kate😊😊😊

Boxing Day shopping sounds amazing. Gardening is a peaceful activity, though I don’t do that 😀
Have a good day 🙂

Sounds memorable! 🙂
I do NOT shop the day after Thanksgiving or the day after Christmas…Those are 2 of the biggest shopping days here. There isn’t anything I want that badly that I’ll fight the crowds! 😉
I hope and pray you get more rain!
We got rain and snow the past week…and more snow expected the next few days. I’ll box some up in a package and sent it your way. 🙂
Our Christmas was wonderful!!! 🙂 I’m just bummed it it over now.
(((HUGS))) 🙂

lol no big crowds here … the tourists don’t arrive until this weekend so it was too dramatic 🙂
A box of snow sounds magic, yes please? Glad you had a good time and that everyone looked after you, way to go!

Encouragement, Kate, on making a go at peas now, in early summer. Most of the varieties we grow in North America enjoy cool, even chilly, nights. Hence, we put them in as soon as the soil thaws, more or less. You are one bold gardener!
Too bad about cloud cover making stargazing difficult (exactly the reason I missed Haley’s Comet when I was a child), but if it brings some much-needed precip. a small price to pay, true?

Love sweet peas! My celebration was the same, doing the same things but with less discord and more passion. Blessings on you, your plants and may the rains fall when you need them. You have been a wonderful friend Kate. 🤗

My holiday season was good. I saw a lot of family and enjoyed a few good meals. I’m thankful I made it through the year.

Even we had the solar eclipse in India too and we had a few showers and all was pretty foggy yesterday. Nice and lovely poem, Kate. So nice to hear of slight rain. Hope you all get a lot of showers.

Sounds great! I have been to Sydney Central to shop for Christmas boxing day! There were great bargains everywhere and lots of people too. It was fun but tiring.

Sounds like a wonderful Christmas Kate. Ours was very quiet. Spoke with our daughter Sara the phone as Christmas Eve and again Christmas Day before she went to work. Lynn’s parents came up for Christmas Day and we had our traditional turkey dinner mid-day. After they left we went for a ride out in the country side to get a breath of fresh air and returned home to watch Christmas movies.
Glad to hear you got at least a small amount of rain. A blessed sound to hear for sure. Be sure to post some pics of the garden, once things start to sprout.
Blessings from Canada

Partial solar eclipse happened today in Karachi, after 20 years!
I didn’t took snaps or made videos because I found out that the next one will happen in June 2020 and it will be more intense, so I will wait for that one.
Good thing you did by going out and buying items in need. Hope to see snaps of garden in bloom 🙂
