Happy July Fourth!
Praying that you have more to celebrate
as outsiders struggle to find the positives
a psychopath befriending enemies
while he alienates traditional allies
more jobs we hope
more killings evident
eighty years since the great dust bowl
the Grapes of Wrath an indictment
community connections shattered
the gap widens beyond compare
yet creative talent abounds on WP
as you bond and care beyond borders
we’ve all slaughtered our first nation people
we’ve all morbidly maligned our migrants
refugees refused understanding
families and dreams deviously divided
pray your home and health are safe
your ethics and mortality secure
enjoy your fireworks and grand parade
your countrymen are never staid!
An eloquent verse Kate, both poignant and topical…….attach my little tongue in cheek piece today …………

A prayer for every country attempting to celebrate, while minorities or not fall short.
May those with power in governments learn to work for all the people.

Jut read a fascinating article on assemblies of citizens, selected like a jury, who would set parliamentary agendas to allow real people a sincere democracy instead of our current oligarchy!

A beautiful prayer for all countries…(like mine) struggling to be better and independent after years of actually declaring independence….

Happy Fourth of July! Our lives must be a prayer, every one. A country is as strong as the people who abide in it. Day in and day out, we all make a difference. Each drop in the bucket becomes a pail that overflows; we turn the tide of injustice with one act of kindness at a time.

A country becomes beautiful and proud because of its deeds and people who represent it. The stark reality of today’s times well penned, Kate.
