as night invaded my world
giant moths were drawn
to my lamp as it exposed
endless empty words
lulled by their velvet caress
I drifted into a deep sleep
gassed, out for the count
I imagined fields of soft grass
with beetles crawling over me
moth wings felt like weights
wondering if the dawn would
come before they claimed me
“Darkness came, full of moths and beetles. I was oppressed by the velvety emptiness of the word and swathes of soft grass. Then the fumes of the night put me to sleep” (As I walked out one Midsummer morning) – use my alchemy to turn Laurie Lee’s prose into poetry
dVerse, Laura
Very very lovely, both the picture and the poetry.

Vivid images! Relatable emotions! Wonderful poem, Kate! 🙂 And your photo is so beautiful! 🙂
HUGS!!! 🙂
PS…Maybe the velvety moths came to read your poem and then they wanted to carry you away on an adventure! 🙂

Hmm… moths and beetles.
I dont really hate them as beings, but just dont really enjoy their presence.
Nice poem, dear Kate!

wow that is a long time … do you see any patterns? Are they a similar theme? Come when your over stressed, tired, anxious … if you can see a pattern you might be able to change it. Might be worth charting with dates and emotions …

This was a squeamish read for me Kate. I hate crawly things in my dreams, and you made them real…. yikes!

As for the verse, I offer little more than a repetition of previous praise. Beautifully earned, though.
Now the picture, stunning! Is everything in Australia so captivating?

Lovely… some times our dreams to weigh us down. We claw for morning, and wake without feeling refreshed. I forget which butterfly house I visited to see a moth had a single wing about the size of my hand. Almost as big as a baby bird!

the moths described I have seen in the outback and they are bigger than a finch and do weigh heavy if they land on you, most are just vying for the light bulb

Even so, it’s not “here,” and is so much more beautiful that what I’m accustomed to seeing.
