Whenever I visit new towns or cities, I check out the local library. If you are a library and book love, you might enjoy reading the Library Book by Susan Orlean which I just reviewed,

Hi, I’m kind of new to this so not sure if I know how to do a pingback, but I tried. Looks like a fun library blog!

hi there LL, ask google how to do pingback or just copy the address at the very top of your post and paste it into a comment … either will work and this is not a library blog just one post about libraries … thanks for the connection 🙂

I have been away from libraries since my graduation… Hard memories never made me to go back…
One place I liked in my college library is reference book section at the top where I get cool breeze and i get to learn about advance information that is not in usual syllabus..

Engineering and then MBA..
It’s not that I hate it..
Infact in school days I love to be in library and always explore the books..
It was in engineering when I lost interest.

That orchid snap about library foto challenge made me wonder where a floral library exists in the world 😀
LikeLiked by 2 people
lol they all have books about flora and fauna and I have heard of a huge seed library but I guess botanic gardens and florist shops might be the closest 🙂

I love libraries, just being within their walls. I like to read layman stuff about science and use it for stories. I love the library I’m going to this next year. I’m going to be around the other schizophrenics, too.

You reminded me of the plants I have donated to my own library. One was a rather large Peace plant. I just didn’t have the right light or space for it. I most often stop in at the Book store Cafe.
Sometimes I go around to see where they have replaced the pot – as it isn’t always where I last saw it 🙂

Our local libraries are not very good any more, Kate, and they rarely get new books. The library at my son’s school (older one) is brilliant. He is a lucky boy.

oh I’m very sorry to hear that Robbie .. is it a result of ebooks? I spend time at one most weeks but alternate them … have my favourites.

I have some photos of the library in my hometown…but I am at work at the moment. If I remember tonight I will have a look at my tablet and see what I can share.
My mum used to take the three of us little girls down there regularly and let us read books for hours. We loved our library.

it’s still one of the first places I visit in my frequent relocations … libraries are restful places where one can enjoy the voices of so many ….

Same for us in our relocations. The routine is almost: unpack box with stereo, order and eat a pizza while unpacking, visit library to get new library card. We’ve only moved within our city for the past 15 years so we haven’t had to do that for a while. We do have to adapt to a new branch, though.

Oh, what a beautiful orchid! What a joyful welcome to those who visit the library!
I’ve loved libraries my whole life!
The best one in my memory was a library within walking distance from home (when my kids were young)! We spent a lot of time there! 🙂
Another was in the woods in northern CA within walking distance of the school I taught in. We (my class) visited there once a week and had such fun! 🙂
I have other library memories, too! 🙂
HUGS!!! 🙂
