The radio announced that the HMAS Melbourne would be berthed in town for the locals to board for a tour. This was after all the town closest to our largest naval base where the sailors made their presence felt in many ways and the navy had consented to host this open event.
People flocked to town as I wondered how an aircraft carrier could pass under our bridge … so many April fools that day!
Autumn falls on us
With tricksters playing silly pranks
Belly laughter rings out
Google image, a destroyer, not an aircraft carrier
d’Verse – For this week’s Haibun Monday, write about April Fools’ Day: a time when you played a prank or had one played on you; the best April Fools’ prank you’ve experienced or heard of; or a memorable April Fools’ Day. You could even play a joke on us in your haibun! Aim to write no more than three tight paragraphs about 1st April, followed by a traditional haiku that includes reference to the season.
I’m a bit late for April fool’s day but..hey you put a smile on my face with this.😊😊😊

This is funny. My son just entered the US Navy — I trust he helps build good reputations in his ports-of-call.

Hahaha nice one Kate. Politicians and their pranks. Here in India we are going to have elections so no pranks every party is fighting with each other, slandering in public to get votes.

yes it’s shocking isn’t it, they all do it like bunch of silly 5 year olds!

Yes absolutely true, Kate and no one is bothered about what every person is going thru, nor our infrastructure, blindly cutting down trees, animals and all nonsense in the name of politics and getting votes.

I see much in the news or hear of many “April Fools” pranks, other than a “fake news” headline that our current Prime Minister and confessed to all the scandals and corruption allegations and was going to resign. Ah….if only it was true.

Oh, my! Those April Fool’s pranksters are a hoot! 😀 😛
I had a friend take a dessert to her work…she announced Choc Truffles and every one enjoyed popping one in their mouth! Turns out they were choc covered Brussel Sprouts! 😮
HUGS!!! 😀

Great joke! I did a double take when I read the haiku – and then felt a fool when I remembered that it’s autumn down under! 🙂
