The most extravagant indulgence is to share
time with people and causes for whom we care,
doing our daily chores with real flair.
Being ourselves if only we dare!
Being comfortable in our own skin is rare
Express yourself by the clothes you wear
don’t mind if others choose to stare
it’s because they envy our ability to bare
Our inner self, for them it’s a nightmare
fearful of the public glare
always needing to be part of a pair
having things just right, even their hair
But how is that really fair?
Their self-worth so fragile, easy to tear
don’t waste your life with things unfair
Be yourself and ‘present’, always there!

I am exhausted but ecstatic, today I relocated to a nice quiet bush block
What a great reflection, I fully concur, especially the last line

wonderful poem!
the greatest thing is to be able to be present, to just be yourself.
the greatest gift we can give others is to let them be 100% themselves when they are with us. 🙂
HUGS!!! 🙂

What a wonderful message you’ve given us here. Be yourself. How simple yet powerful. Everything else flows from there. Big hugs my friend. xo

Openness is to be admired, of course, and one cannot help but be awestruck by those that fly their own flag with confidence. So it is good to be yourself, I agree ….. but gee whiz … it can be liberating to be someone else now and again, too.

I must agree that trading your authenticity for approval is not a good thing! Love this and definitely had to share with my readers.

i agree with your first kine whole heartedly, and the rest of your words really found its mark, we are gorgeous humans alone and confident with who we are, we don’t need false validation.
