What personal memes have you integrated
into your subconscious though often outdated
Things others have thrown at us
or arising from our own self-doubts
What’s deeply ingrained in your psyche?
how did it get there, does it bring health
or drain your energy by stealth
does it create burden or emanate wealth
Our self-talk leaves deep imprints
So check what’s ingrained and sort it
Select what brings health and strength
eliminate what detracts from your growth
daily prompt: Grainy
Your verse reminds me of this; Mark Twain is said to have said, “If you tell the truth you don’t have to remember anything,” meaning if you tell a lie you have to remember what lie you told to who.
We need to tell ourselves that our truth, who we have evolved to be does not have to be a reflection of what others thought we were or could be. I always disliked it when someone told me “I know you better than you know yourself.’.
While sometimes we do seem to be our own worst critics I think we can also rise up and with all the grace and dignity we can muster we can project a healthful spirit to pass along.

Awe… I’m an over the hill old fart 😉 Maybe not quite a septuagenarian, octogenarian or a centurion – yet! 😀

Thank you for sharing. Reactions from a bad childhood or event can handicap and break your brain. It scares you away from the future. I’ve come into the realization that the, “future wasn’t.” Not quoting myself. Prolixin keeps me intact for the most part, but I am in pieces awareness wise. At one point, they took over me. I just have to remind myself to think, check myself and that the future wasn’t. It’s hard some times. Well, I hope you have a nice day.

Its a very good read on a lazy Monday afternoon in my side of the world Kate..we need to evaluate our deepist thoughts as they may turn into words and as we all know words can turn into actions..that is why as a mom i always have beautiful thoughts about my kids and about the people around me…or even life in general…

So check what’s ingrained and sort it……..this was just so wise and profound – i am reading and nodding and think she really gets to the heart of the matter.
few days ago i had the same thoughts, its all in my mindset, not in my heart or body, its just a physical affinity, but when my mind can wrap itself around a problem, the old insecurities and beliefs are exposed for its accuracy or lies.
lots to ponder form your words, all good thoughts on this Monday!

So true, Kate! What you have shared here is SO important!
I think we all have a mixture of the positive and the negative ingrained in us…from childhood, from what people have said to us, done to us, etc. It’s a life long battle to deal with all of this. And it’s up to us to look to the positive as quickly as we are able to. I have trouble with the negatives wanting to dominate…for example, if 10 people say “Great job” and 1 person says “Not so good job”, I focus on the 1 negative. And have to force myself to believe and enjoy the positive feedback I got. But, I’m getting better about it! 🙂
As a teacher and as a mom and grandma, I’ve tried to devote my life to helping children have way better, much more positive, self-esteems than I did as a child.
HUGS!!! 🙂

The hardest thing I have had to learn how to do is regulate my internal dialogue to get rid of the negativity. It’s a struggle, but worth it.
