FIRE = living frugally in pursuit of retiring early, a concept that is gaining international momentum.
Fascinating concept that these movers and shakers are not wanting to indulge exotic holidays and own this or that. Their ideal is to save enough to then be able to do a less paid job that is really their passion – read the article it’s note worthy!
Guess I had that wrong … I used to combine my well-paid ‘trauma’ work with what I called my ‘charity’ jobs eg hospice care and blind society. By ‘charity’ I mean that some didn’t even pay me enough for a living wage but they were worthy causes.
Trouble is that they did eat into my savings which in turn impacts on my lifestyle. But I applaud these people for thinking this way. Own more, use less. Invest all you can then retire to more worthy occupations.
