Wee willy wagtail waiting for a worm
quietly composed but totally on alert
Even a photographer could not divert
his watchful concentration for a snack
If we could focus such detailed attention
on living in the present moment, right now!
Then we would truly be living and how!
Bit of a fierce look he’s showing you Kate.

I wish to attain that kinda focus ……..when nothing can budge.

Yes, it is the minute details in our life that makes it meaningful but most of them go unnoticed.

Beautifully written Kate. I love this also because a pair of wagtails are building nest in our place

I agree with you Kate… If only we could focus detailed attention to living, life would have been much more beautiful

OH, so right! We would! 🙂 I love this poem, Kate! And what a great birdy portrait! AND, good reminder…isn’t it amazing what we can learn, and apply in our lives,by just quietly observing nature! 🙂
HUGS!!! 🙂
PS…I’ve seen male-people with that exact look on their face, and that kind of focus, while I’m getting a meal ready to serve them! HA! 😀

Oh yes, a lot can be learned about the awareness and focus from these birds and I loved the alliteration in the first few lines of your poem.

Beautiful picture. How I love that alliteration. Got my attention fast.

I’m not sure if I’ve seen this friendly fellow. Some are similar though. I looked him up.
Paying attention seems to be at a premium these days… with people having to be told to actually look where they are going instead of at their cell phones.

yes very good point Jules, many are missing living in the real world, some even being killed because they are so absorbed in their devices!

We need to all be living in the now and yet society doesn’t really encourage this.

no they distract us with consumerism, devices and anything but the here and now … we need to have persistent effort to achieve it but it is well worth the effort I assure you!
