If you are in love then that’s a good thing, in fact that’s about the best thing that can happen to anyone. Don’t let anyone deride or make light of it to you. There are many types of love but two main kinds. One is a selfish, grasping, possessive kind which is quite self-absorbed, this is kind is ugly and crippling. The other is an outpouring of everything good in you—of kindness, consideration and respect— the respect which is recognition of another person as unique and valuable. The first kind makes you sick and toxic to others but the second can release strength, courage and goodness and even wisdom that you didn’t know you had. …And don’t worry about losing. If it is right, it happens—The main thing is not to hurry, it needs to be reciprocal
heavily edited from John Steinbeck, in a letter to his son
This is so true, if you have the first type of love step away quickly because you will get burnt! If you have the second type of love then it will grow organically and blossom … both types radiate out to poison or nourish all those around you.
It’s our choice!
It’s a good analysis of love ❤️….
But first. Or second..
still creates that exhilarating joy..
It’s after all life bestest.. and greatest joy

The first is toxic and unhealthy … not worth going there! Any joy would be short lived and the damage can be lasting.

Such a fantastic post…thanks for sharing…the points are so beautifully made and are music to my ears (I love music…it enters my soul with barely a hint….as though it is part of it, if that makes sense to you)… 🙂

Being self centered is being toxic. Poisson is bad in every form.
I like your way of expressing it. But I do feel it was so wise of a father to explain the difference to his teenage son.

Love depends solely upon what you give from your side as quality of your input will determine the output.
