S I L E N T L Y

Silence is a real strength
a gentle art of communication

It stills our mind
and refreshes our soul
opening a vast panoramic view

It provides necessary space
to hear our inner peace
for all the answers lie within
so unplug and take time out

Noise and busyness are a constant distraction
avoiding silence is unhealthy
so indulge silent contemplation
needed to replenish and nourish our soul
connect with our oneness, breath in

Silence

  1. Came to the ‘healing’ section… spotted the ‘silently’
I used to know all the words to this song…
I was a lonely child often alone – I think the calmness of the song more than the words were soothing. Since it fit my angst moods then. There really is quite a bit of sadness in the song.

Listening isn’t what most folks did for me back then… So I had to listen to myself.

    • ouch sorry for your suffering Jules but how magnificent that you have such a happy contented marriage … not always possible after such a deprived childhood so you have overcome! well done you 🙂

  2. Love the inclusion of the song and quote at the end. I never twigged that silent and listen had the same letters…there’s something profound in that. As someone who has always tried to outrun silence, I am definitely learning to now just accept and embrace it, sit with it and listen.

  3. Your words capture me…they bring a smile and some tears.

Sometimes it is my mind that is the noisiest…so an alone walk to breath and meditate is my salvation. (Okay, well, Cooper walks with me…but he is so quiet. Just makes sniffin’ noises as he interacts with the world. 🙂 )

When I was a teenager I choreographed a dance to that Simon and Garfunkel song because it was one of my fav songs. (Still is!)

Ha. My dance teacher’s name was Mrs. Robinson. 🙂
    HUGS!!! 🙂

  4. That line in the song “people hearing without listening” hits me in the gut. I’m better (hopefully) but I often have to tell myself to listen instead of preparing my rebuttal. 😀
