Fresh garden smells after rainfall
that invigorating sea breeze
or a crushed gum leaf
cooking aromas, tea or leather
coffee percolating in the pot
waffles with syrup served up hot
Their sweet fragrance fills our nostrils
and uplifts our minds as they distract
us from our worldly lot
so let’s be thankful for all we’ve got
Daily Prompt: Fragrance
Interesting poetry calmkate. I read somewhere that the brain has difficulty converting smells we experience into words and when we describe something we will always err towards our most dominant sense. Your last two lines around empowering creativity are thought provoking.

it is a major trigger for PTSD .. with trauma memories are stored separately and scent is a very strong one 😦

Interesting how you put into words the aromas you smell…most writers have difficulty doing that…

Beautiful words, Kate. Scents have such a way of bringing back moments in our life. Roses are of my grandmother, Lavender was mum…💐😍
